PJSC LUKOIL has been operating in the Azerbaijani oil-and-gas industry since 1994, when the Company joined its first international development project for the Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli oil field, one of the largest in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. LUKOIL was the first among Russian major business enterprises to start operations in Azerbaijan.
The Company is presently involved in the development of Shah-Deniz, a gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani water area in the south-western Caspian Sea. Shah-Deniz is one of the largest and most capital-intensive oil and gas projects globally.
Since 1995, LUKOIL has been developing its own marketing network of world-class fuelling complexes in Azerbaijan. The Company also owns a petroleum depot capable of transhipping 120 ths. tons of petroleum products annually.

Shah-Deniz gas-condensate field with an area of 860 km2 is located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, 100 km southeast of Baku at depths of up to 700 m.
Launch of the second stage of Shakh Deniz field development.
LUKOIL signed a 1 bln dollar loan agreement financing the Company’s obligations with respect to Stage 2 of the Shah-Deniz development.
Upon the recommendation of IATUO of PJSC LUKOIL and with active support from the Azerbaijani Trade Union Confederation, a trade union organization of LUKOIL-Azerbaijan CJSC was established.
LUKOIL opened a branch of its International Charity Fund in Baku.
A Production sharing agreement (PSA) was signed between Azerbaijan and a consortium of which LUKOIL was a member, with a term of 40 years and a possibility of a 12-year extension with regard to the Shah-Deniz offshore gas condensate field development.
The first-ever Azerbaijani LUKOIL fuelling complex opened in Baku, capable of handling 2,000 vehicles daily.
LUKOIL joined the Azeri – Chirag – Gyuneshli project in Azerbaijan, marking the start of its overseas hydrocarbons exploration and production operations. 2003 LUKOIL withdrew from the project. In various years, the Company was also a member to the projects D-222 (1998—2009) and Zykh-Govsany (2001 - 2005).
LUKOIL established the Baku-based marketing entity AOZT LUKOIL-Baku, later changing its name to LUKOIL-Azerbaijan CJSC.
LUKOIL supports Azerbaijani cultural organizations, on-stage performance groups, educational institutions, war veterans, children from low-income families and orphans.
In 1996, the company set up the Baku Branch of the LUKOIL Charity Fund.
